The York Table
The York Table offers a dining format reserved for guests who want to move beyond the menu and into the kitchen's own logic for an evening. Chef Margaux Okafor leads a small group - never more than eight - through the meal she would cook for a private gathering, narrating each course through its sourcing, seasonal reasoning, and the specific Canadian landscape it references. It is a programme for curious travellers, serious food professionals, and anyone who has ever wanted to understand why a dish tastes precisely the way it does.
Market Walk with the Chef
Each experience begins with a private 90-minute walk through St. Lawrence Market, where Chef Okafor introduces her preferred vendors, explains her seasonal procurement approach, and selects at least one ingredient on the spot that will shape the evening's menu.
Kitchen Table Seating
Guests are seated at a custom table positioned within the working kitchen, close enough to observe plating and sauce work at full speed while remaining comfortably removed from the heat and movement of the line.
Course-by-Course Narration
Chef Okafor or a senior sous chef speaks to each course before it is served - covering the producer, the technique, the classical reference point, and the specifically Canadian element that distinguishes it from its European ancestor.
Recipe Archive Access
Guests receive a printed and digitally archived copy of every recipe prepared during their evening - formatted for home replication and annotated with sourcing notes for the Canadian ingredients used.
Private Dining Room Option
Groups of four or more may transition after the kitchen portion to the restaurant's private room - a nine-seat room with its own fireplace, separated from the main dining floor by original oak-framed glass partitions from the building's 1908 fitout.
Custom Menu Commissioning
For milestone occasions, Chef Okafor accepts commissions for entirely original menus - developed through a pre-visit consultation, tailored to dietary requirements, personal history, or a specific region of Canada the guest wishes to explore through food.
